This page covers both pivvi.app (the website) and the Pivvi — Free AI Rescue browser extension. Short version below, full detail underneath.
The short version: Pivvi doesn't have accounts, doesn't sell or share your data, and doesn't run ad-tracking of any kind. The Rescue extension reads the page you're already on to spot a rate limit and offer you a free alternative — that reading happens in your browser, stays in your browser, and is never sent to Pivvi's servers or anyone else.
1. Who this covers
Pivvi is built and operated by Mavian Design. This policy applies to pivvi.app and all its pages (including /find, /world, /free-open-source-ai, /local-ai-stack, /changelog), and to the Pivvi — Free AI Rescue extension available on the Chrome Web Store.
2. pivvi.app (the website)
No account or sign-up is required to use any part of the site.
- Anonymous page-view counts. The site records that a page was viewed (page path + date) so we can see what's useful. These records don't include your IP address, a device identifier, or anything that ties a view to you, and no cookies are set to track you across visits.
- The Pivvi Chat widget. If you type a question into the on-site chat box, that message (and the last few turns of that conversation) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply. It's used only to answer you in that moment — it isn't stored in a database, isn't linked to your identity, and isn't used for advertising or profiling.
- Standard hosting logs. Like virtually every website, our host (Netlify) automatically logs basic technical request data (e.g. IP address, browser type) for security and abuse prevention. Pivvi doesn't access this for tracking purposes.
- No ad networks, no third-party analytics scripts, no cross-site tracking pixels.
3. The Pivvi — Free AI Rescue extension
The extension's job: notice when you're about to hit (or have hit) a rate limit on a major AI chat site, and offer you a free alternative plus an easy way to hand off your context. Here's exactly what that involves.
Where it runs
Only on these domains: chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, grok.com, and x.com. It does nothing on any other site.
What it reads, and where that data goes
- Page text, read locally. The extension watches the visible text of the chat page you're on to detect a "you've reached your limit" style message, and to identify your last message and the AI's last reply so it can offer you a one-click handoff. This reading, matching, and display all happens inside your own browser. Nothing about your conversation is transmitted to Pivvi's servers, sold, or shared with any third party.
- Locally stored, on your device only. Your last prompt and the AI's last reply may be saved to the extension's local browser storage (chrome.storage.local) and/or copied to your system clipboard, purely so you can paste them into whichever free AI you switch to. This data stays on your device — the extension has no server of its own to send it to.
- Response headers (rate-limit detection only). The extension may inspect specific rate-limit-related response headers (e.g. x-ratelimit-remaining-requests) from the sites above, to try to warn you before you hit a wall. It does not read or store the content of those responses — only a handful of numeric limit/remaining values.
- One outbound request Pivvi does make: about once every 24 hours, the extension fetches
pivvi.app/rankings.json— a public, non-personal list of free AI tools — so its suggestions stay current. That request doesn't include your prompts, your identity, or any browsing history. - Icon lookups for the free-AI picks shown to you. To display each suggested tool's logo, the extension requests it from DuckDuckGo's icon service (icons.duckduckgo.com), falling back to Google's favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons) if unavailable. Only the tool's own domain (e.g. "gemini.google.com") is sent — never your prompt, identity, or browsing history.

4. Third-party AI sites
Pivvi links you out to other AI providers (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and many others across the site). Once you're on one of those sites, that provider's own privacy policy and terms apply — Pivvi doesn't control, and isn't responsible for, how they handle your data.
5. Children's privacy
Pivvi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site or extension after a change means you accept the update.
7. Terms of use
- Pivvi is provided free, "as is," with no warranty of any kind. We try to keep tool listings, free-tier limits, and rankings accurate, but they can change on the provider's side faster than we can update them — always verify current terms on the provider's own site before relying on a free tier.
- AI names, logos, and marks referenced on Pivvi (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and others) belong to their respective owners. Pivvi is an independent directory and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them.
- No account is required and none of Pivvi's core features are paywalled.
- We may modify, add to, or discontinue any part of the site or extension at any time.
- Don't use Pivvi or the Rescue extension for anything illegal, or in a way that abuses or disrupts the service or the sites it interacts with.
